Welcome to my blog. Today is a glorious day, as today I have started writing!
A few years ago, upon returning to the United States after spending some time overseas, I told myself I wanted to start a blog site. I had a lot to say, about a lot of things, and I needed a forum to vent. I have, over the years, amassed quite a plethora of ideas, comments, critiques, and complaints about many things, and "blogging" was the opportunity for which I had been waiting. Newspapers never wanted to print my editorials---too left wing or right wing for their audiences, I suppose---so now I'm taking my thoughts to the etherworld, and putting my words into electrons.
So what took me so long to start blogging, you ask? Well, the reasons are as vast as the excuses, and will be subject of future posts. For now, let's just say it was 'life' that got in the way [of my blog]. From this point forth, though, 'life' will be the source of my blogs.
Now that I have stirred your curiosity, I know you are wondering what I have up my sleeve? Who am I? What bothers me so much that I have to shout it to the world [wide web!]? What are the stories, the commentaries, the complaints for which I will be using this medium as my soapbox? Well, think Andy Rooney, a little bit of Bill O'Reilly, some Bill Maher thrown in, and just for good measure, an equal amount of Arianna Huffington, Rosie O'Donnell, and Oprah Winfrey! There you go. Have you profiled me yet?
Don't worry about who I am or what I look like. All that is irrelevant---for now. Just focus on the words; the messages I proclaim. What I write is not meant to be subversive or undermine anything or anyone. I just want to share my thoughts and unsolicited opinions with people who may actually be interested in what I have to say, or even share the same views. If you don't like what I write, just point and click me off your screen. If you do like what I say, spread the word.
Who knows, by bringing together average, everyday people, with like minds and ideas, we may be able to make our world, our country, our society, a kinder, gentler, simpler, safer, healthier, more conscientious, more beautiful place to exist . . . . .
. . . simply through sharing ideas via the written word.
Funny, wasn't that the original intent of the founders of the United States? Can you say "The Constitution?" "Bill of Rights?" Hmmmm. Makes you think, doesn't it?
And therein lies a post for another day. For today, however, welcome to my world.
